what to expect
You've carefully picked out your outfits for ALL of your family members. You've spent extra time on yourself by fixing your hair, nails, and makeup. You've packed all the snacks, extra diapers, emergency change of clothes. You've had "the talk" with your kids (and husband) to prepare them. You're hoping against all hope that you just get that ONE. GOOD. PHOTO.
I always start my sessions by getting that classic, "everyone looking at the camera and smiling photo." I get it. You've worked hard for this. You deserve it.

I love to create sweet, authentic, and candid moments during your session. These are the photos that you look back on and remember the feeling of being in that unique season of life. The joy, the chaos, the sweetness, the laughter, the love.
FAQs
I recommend wearing lighter colors and neutrals, but I also love some color! Whatever you choose, try to dress everyone in coordinating colors, and pay attention to your color undertones (warm tones or cool tones). When planning outfits for your family, choose solid colors with various textures, and maybe just one or two complimenting patterns. Stick to no more than 2-3 different colors total. Finally, ALWAYS wear what makes you feel confident!
Prepare your kids by giving them a treat to look forward to afterward (ice cream, the playground, a new toy, whatever works). Always bring a snack too in case they need a break during the session. Most importantly, do what you can to feel relaxed and ready to have a good time. If your kids see you having fun, they will too. Then leave the rest to me! If all else fails, I have a few tricks up my sleeve to create some sweet moments, despite the chaos.
Leave this entirely to me! I will direct you through the shoot, but leave some room for your family's unique personality to shine. At times, I can be pretty goofy, which helps everyone relax (even the most resistant husband)! During other times, I'll try to fade into the background, to allow those precious moments with your children to authentically happen. I might even ask you to do something silly, which helps those beautiful, candid, in-between moments naturally happen. Just trust me and follow my lead!
Ideally we have some sunshine on the day of your session to create those stunning, light and airy images. Overcast days can also create beautiful, evenly lit images. I will shoot in either lighting situation for your session. In case of rain or extreme weather (very hot or cold, strong winds), I will contact you to reschedule for another day that works for everyone.
For mini sessions, I pick the location and predetermine the offered dates and times. For any other type of session, YOU get to pick the location, date, and time! If you don't have a spot in mind, I am more than happy to make recommendations - I have a few tried and true favorites. I strongly encourage shooting in the afternoon, within 1-2 hours of sunset time, if possible. If that just isn't feasible, let me know what works for your family - I can make it happen!
